  1. Thanks for posting this Groove! I too was a proud Foomer in my youth. I even submitted my own drawing to the character contest. Sadly, it was not selected for publication. *sniff* I waited (and waited)for Humus Sapiens to show up in a Marvel mag. I have this dim recollection of Stan announcing that he was going to be part of the upcoming all new X-Men book. When GS X-Men #1 came out, I remember being surprised and confused that Mike's creation was nowhere to be found.

  2. Some of those super-hero entries are actually pretty good!
Well, maybe not the Human Crab, but...

  5. Thanks for posting this because I remember this issue! I signed up for F.O.O.M. since the first issue and am very sorry I didn't save them all. Being a kid in the 70's, I was pouring over each and every issue to learn the secrets of Marvel Comics. It's too bad this club didn't continue into the 80's because it would have given us a glimpse of the Jim Shooter years where he was the Editor in Chief.

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!
