Lo, There Shall Come Endings! "The Dwellers of the Dark Domain!" by DeFalco, Vosburg, and Colletta

Happy New Year, Groove-ophiles! 'Tis a tradition here in Groove City to end the year with a Groovy Age finale. This year, Ol' Groove is gonna lay the final ish of Starfire 'pon ya! We've been digging on the David Michelinie/Mike Vosburg sci-fantasy siren for a huge chunk of 2014 (check out the other issues here), so it's only fitting we end this year with the eighth and final ish, written by Tom DeFalco with art, of course, by Mike Vosburg and Vinnie Colletta. Here's the wrap-up for 2014 and Starfire from July 1977, meet..."The dwellers of the Dark Domain!"

Season's Greetings, Groove-ophiles! A couple'a weeks ago, we dug on the first chapter of Denny O'Neil, Michael Netzer (then Mike Nasser), and Terry Austin's mighty Martian Manhunter mini-epic (right here). Today we're gonna check out the second sensational chapter, this one guest-starring Supergirl! A sci-fi murder mystery with totally cool, unique, and awesome art? Our Pal Sal: "Dog Day Afternoon!" by Mantlo and S. Buscema

Happy Holidays, Groove-ophiles! It's time to check in to see what paces writer Bill Mantlo and artist Our Pal Sal Buscema are putting ROM, Spaceknight through! Way back in February 1980, Bill and Sal gave us a "Dog Day Afternoon" with no Al Pacino in sight, but plenty of Hellhounds of the Dark Nebula! Check out ROM, Spaceknight #6!

Making a Splash: Bob Brown and Tom's Sutton's Warlock, Plus...

Happy Holidays, Groove-ophiles! I know you know that Ol' Groove loves all things Adam Warlock, but did you know that Bob Brown, best known for his art on Challengers of the Unknown, Batman, Avengers, and Daredevil was once the regular artist on Warlock's short-lived but immortal mag? 'Tis True, Bob drew issues 6-8 (March-July 1973)! Of course, Tom Sutton inked all eight issues of The Power of Warlock, so he kept things going strong through the change-over from Gil Kane to Bob Brown. Check it out, baby!

Oh, since we've already covered the Kane and Starlin issues, Ol' Groove might as well share the splash from the lone John Buscema penciled ish, #2 (July 1972). Cool stuff, huh?

Groove's Christmas Faves: "The TT's Swingin' Christmas Carol!" by Haney and Cardy and "The Silent Night of the Batman" by M. Friedrich, Adams, and Giordano

Meeeeeerrrrrrrry Christmas, Groove-ophiles! Ol' Groove warmly wishes you the very best of the season! Here's hoping your day is merry and bright, filled with friends, family, and laughter. If it isn't, dive into Christmas in Groove City and share in our Christmas cheer--we have plenty and plenty to spare!

Today we're gonna unwrap two of the most lauded and applauded comicbook Christmas tales to ever be found between four color covers, "The TT's Swingin' Christmas Carol" and "The Silent Night of the Batman". Both these festive features can be found on many a "best of" list year in and year out, and deservedly so! But hey, you don't want someone telling you all about your presents before you unwrap 'em, do ya? Then get to tearin' that paper, baby!

From Teen Titans Vol. 1, #13 (November 1967), here come Bob Haney and Nick Cardy with "The TT's Swingin' Christmas Carol!" (The Charles Dickens you say!)

And here's the real Batman--the one with the really boss baritone singing voice--care-free and caroling on "The Silent Night of the Batman" by Mike Friedrich, Neal Adams, and Dick Giordano from Batman Vol. 1, #219 (December 1969)!

Peace on earth and good will to all! Merry Christmas from Groove City, baby!!
